New Horizons Partnership Ltd (funded by the Western Health and Social Care Trust) has been operational since 1995 out of our Garden Centre site at 45c Derry Road, Strabane. The Garden Centre is still fully operational with plans to extend and upgrade offerings there – both to the public and to our horticultural trainees.
Through the generosity of a recent donation given by the late Margaret Loughrey R.I.P – of a cash sum and a vehicle; we were finally in a position to seek and source a new 6000 sq ft building in Orchard Road Industrial Estate with its own parking space and which has the safety of our referred clients in mind. Using the services of a local architect and contractor; the 2 Managers of the organisation (Anne Ramsey and Claire Devine) – designed and recently completed a multipurpose training Centre, realising their vision for the future of services available in the Tyrone and Derry/L’Derry areas.
The new facility boasts its own Hair & Beauty salon, a training kitchen with catering tutor Margaret O’ Kane delivering training twice-weekly in food preparation which is part of our programme in Independent Living Skills which is so vital for the trainees in preparation for their own futures. There is a I.T. facility with a tablet purchased for each trainee during recent COVID lockdowns to ensure connectivity and to enhance learning and the social skills and fun interaction with peers. A successful funding application made to the Kathleen Graham Trust also assisted in the completion of the works in the new building. New Horizons Partnership Ltd is an OCN-accredited Centre with qualifications in multiple subject areas available as well as ongoing literacy, numeracy and life skills support based on each individual’s needs and wishes.
